2004 iMac and Motion

As planned and announced earlier, Apple unveiled the new iMac today and it’s a stunner. All in one design, all in the screen. I like the tagline Apple has on the site: “Where did the computer go?”

In addition to the normally stellar industrial design, the specs don’t slouch either: 1.8Ghz G5, Superdrive, NVidia GForce Ultra 5200. Oh yeah, and a 20″ screen. Now the decision between an eMac and iMac is a bit more complicated.

Apple also released Motion this month. I’ve already produced one project using it a little, and am impressed. I haven’t had much time to dive into the featureset, but it looks to be a very deep product, especially at the pricepoint of $299. Looks like I’ll need to upgrade the video card in my G5, though, as it eats up GPU. According to the reports I’ve seen, upgrading to the Radeon 9800 Pro SE gives the biggest performance boost.

And you thought you’d get through a whole month without hearing from me. Ha!
