“Pacifism is a shifty doctrine under which a man accepts the benefits of the social group without being willing to pay–and claims a halo for his
dishonesty.”
Well, just about the time I was convinced I was going to have to break down and write a tool to convert XML exported from Radio into the import format supported by Movable Type, I ran across a nifty little Radio native tool by Bill Kearney that exports directly from Radio to a importable MT file.
Worked like a charm, except the dates it produced were mm/dd/yy and MT interpreted the two digit years at 1903 instead of 2003. No problem, a quick find and replace in my good old text editor and I had my entire blog migrated into MT in no time flat.
Now all I have to do is get my templates working and migrate the other assets over, like images.
I’m in the process of figuring out how to move my blog from Radio over to Moveable Type. I’ve got MT up and running (I still need to configure the templates and such), but I’m off on a task to export my data from Radio into a format that Moveable Type can import…
Wow. 3 hours and 29 minutes on the second full battery drain. That’s with normal usage, too, and no real power saving measures (screen dim, hard drive spin down, processor cycling, etc.).
Got a new battery for the powerbook today… hopefully it can hold a charge for longer than the 6 minutes my old one would. I just pulled the plug and the power manager is registering 3 hours and 2 minutes remaining time… we’ll see.
This is yet another example of the idiocy of those supporting Saddam’s regime simply out of a dislike of the President. Unbelievable.
The total media coverage of happenings in Iraq is both amazing and annoying. While listening to local talk radio, the news room cuts in. Then a few minutes later, the network cuts in. Then they cut to audio from the TV side of the house. Then they stall, reporting the same things over and over and over, longing for something new to relate to the audience.
And now they network just cut in again to say they’re going to interrupt programming to cut live to a photo op with the president. This is radio. A photo op?
It’s very tiring, but hard to turn off.
It’s been hard so far, but hopefully even after this I can still keep my politics and my computing platform somewhat separated in my mind.
